The Palais de Justice in Aix-en-Provence, also known as the "Palais Monclar", is an emblematic building that bears witness to the grandeur and majesty of Provencal architecture. This monument was erected in the heart of the old town in the 17th century, during the reign of King Louis XIV. It is located on the famous Place des Prêcheurs, a picturesque square that is also a market place for fruit and vegetables in Aix-en-Provence. Standing here, in front of this imposing edifice, you can feel the weight of history hanging over its walls. The Palais de Justice was built to replace the former Palais Comtal, which had been destroyed by fire in the 17th century. Architect Pierre Pavillon was commissioned to design the new palace, and he succeeded in creating an architectural work of art that combines elegance and functionality.
